Located on the National Mall in the cultural heart of D.C. are the many and varied Smithsonian Gardens, each beautiful in their own way and designed to enhance the surrounding museums. It’s a perfect spot for your engagement shoot!
There are 13 gardens, each featuring varying themes, styles, flora, and artistic elements that will add depth and texture to your photos. Some of the most iconic gardens are outside of the Smithsonian Institution, also known as the Castle. These formal gardens showcase containers of plants, 19th century garden furniture, and fountains, as well as other seasonal delights, all set against the bright red sandstone of the Romanesque and Gothic architecture of the Castle.
For a different feel, head to the Hirshhorn sculpture garden. Inside its descending, ivy-covered walls, you’ll find pieces of artwork that are beautiful, puzzling, and breathtaking— each providing an element of the fantastic under the cover of flowering trees. You’ll also enjoy the formal rose garden, with its flowing fountains and antique, Victorian benches.
Its variety of landscaping and architecture and its iconic status in American culture make the Smithsonian Gardens a fantastic spot for Washington D.C. engagement photography. You’re certain to find looks that you love here.
