The Sutro Baths in San Francisco are as mysterious as they are stunning - quite the intriguing setting for an epic engagement photography session.
Dating back to 1890, this historic spot was once the largest indoor swimming establishment in the world. Now, all that remains is an eerie ruin that happens to reside in one of the most picturesque coastal settings of San Francisco. The Sutro Baths sit at the end of the Land's End cliffs, looking out over Seal Rock and the Pacific - a uniquely gorgeous view.
Adolph Sutro, a wealthy former mayor of San Francisco once owned most of the land in the western half of the city. One of his grandest projects was the construction of an extravagant glass-roofed structure that housed seven saltwater swimming pools fed by the powerful tides at the entrance to San Francisco Bay. After a fire engulfed the baths in 1966, the ghostly ruins emerged. What remains are naturally occurring salt water pools, crumbling walls and rusting pieces of iron.
Here, your San Francisco engagement photographer will capture a sense of adventure, as well as natural beauty and mystique. For a captivating shot, stroll through the tunnel that runs through the cliff, leading to a tiny beach - the scene of past shipwrecks.
With the watering glimmering behind you and the historic ruins all around you, your photos will be, well, golden.
