Historical heritage combined with contemporary character, Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park is a perfect location for rustic Sacramento engagement photography.
Located on the west bank of Lake Natoma near Folsom Lake and Rainbow Bridge, this historical state park contains roughly 35 acres of cultural and historical resources. This historic California site brings some amazing opportunities to add creatively versatile backgrounds to your photos, too.
The Folsom Powerhouse is a part of the colorful chapter of Sacramento history. This unique, old building has been turned into a state historic park and has been meticulously kept up. It is a great way to step back in time and create some chic pictures with a vintage feel.
In addition to the two-story classical-revival-style brick powerhouse, the park also has some other vintage buildings and structures including the turbine room, the pump house, the lower powerhouse, the machine shop, the forebay, spillways, and half a mile of the original canal. There's no shortage of unique backdrops! The machinery in the buildings is fantastic to see, with its steampunk vibe. You'll also get to see vintage generators with its control switchboard faced with Tennessee marble. On Lake Natoma’s shoreline, the park has a prehistoric grinding rock associated with the Southern Maidu; it's an amazing spot to stop and snap some beautiful pictures.
You might also consider a trip down to the historic Rainbow Bridge right next to the powerhouse, another amazing place for your engagement photos.
Experience the historic charm of the park, enjoy the golden hour among the vintage buildings and tour the beauty and serenity of the area. Simply explore the spectacular Folsom Powerhouse State Historic Park and opportunities will present themselves for your photos!
