Riverside Park is the secluded, picture-perfect location for your New York engagement photography session.
While Riverside Park is lesser known than its Eastern relative, Central Park, you’re probably more familiar with the park than you realize. Riverside Park is a film favorite because it’s just as picturesque as Central Park without the tourist pull.
The flower-lined path was featured in the last scene of You’ve Got Mail because of how well it plays on camera. It also makes for a great backdrop for your New York engagement photography session!
The park is long and narrow, extending more than 20 blocks on the west side Manhattan. At the east entrance of the park, you’ll find the mammoth ivy-covered stone co-op buildings that line Riverside Drive. The middle of the park is marked with a walking path, flanked by trees on either side. The west side of the park is bordered by the Hudson River with an epic view of the New Jersey skyline in the distance.
The park has a handful of monuments scattered throughout its grounds that make for knock-out settings for your engagement photography. Don’t miss the Soldiers and Sailors Monument or the Firemen’s Memorial.
The park is open all year round, but it closes at night. Be sure to talk to your New York engagement photographer about planning your session during office hours. Bonus: You get to take advantage of that natural light!
