Holliday Park is a wilderness escape in the heart of Indianapolis!
Located just four miles north of downtown Indianapolis lies one of the city’s oldest parks: Holliday Park. Unique in its ability to give visitors total immersion in nature without having to leave the city, Holliday Park is the ideal spot for locals to have their Indianapolis engagement photography session.
The park got its start in 1916 during Indiana’s centennial celebration of statehood. John and Evaline Holliday donated their astonishing country estate to the City of Indianapolis, stating “the land is singularly suited to be a place for recreation and the study of nature.”
Take your partner’s hand and wander down one of the winding trails. Here, you’re guaranteed to find the perfect woodland backdrop for your engagement photographer to capture. Have fun with it and take a trip down memory lane with a stop at the playground, which offers a touch of whimsy.
The beauty doesn’t stop there! The Ruins came to Holliday Park in the 1950s after the St. Paul Building in New York was torn down to make way for a skyscraper. The beautiful stonework was preserved and brought to Holliday Park.
The Ruins reopened in 2016 after being closed for over twenty years. Now, they make for the perfect ethereal escape and will add a historical element to your engagement photography.
