Located just a short drive away from Houston in Montgomery, TX is the Fernland Historical Park, a unique destination full of fascinating historical architectural examples as well as simple landscaping that will make this a delightful spot for your engagement shoot. Though the main draw of this park is its selection of historical buildings, the surrounding nature is also spectacular, with fields of golden grass bordered by the deep green of forest.
You’ll love exploring the four different structures that each offer you something exciting. The Huron house is an example of a civil war era Greek-revival plantation home, complete with white-washed siding. The Jardin cabin is more rugged, one of the oldest structures in Texas constructed with hand-hewn logs and a mud cat chimney. The Crane cabin, built in 1887 of rounded logs will remind you instantly of Lincoln Logs, while the Arnold Simonton House provides a more polished, modern exterior (though it still has plenty of historic charm). Rest on its two-pillar front porch and admire the Greek revival architecture.
This is the perfect spot for the couple that wants to show off their state pride with a uniquely Texan feel. Its variety makes the Fernland Historical Park a fantastic spot for Houston engagement photography.
