Fall in love with the English charm and natural beauty of the famed Edsel & Eleanor Ford House in Detroit!
Tucked away on the shores of Lake St. Clair lives the serene hideaway of automobile magnate Edsel Ford and his wife Eleanor. An architectural gem just outside Detroit in Grosse Pointe Shores, the Edsel & Eleanor Ford House is a welcome spot for stunning Detroit engagement photography.
This 87-acre estate was designed by the renowned architect Albert Kahn in the pre-World War II era. With its stone roofs, vine-covered walls and lead-paned windows, the house was designed to resemble a cluster of Cotswold village cottages. Thankfully for engaged couples in the Detroit area, English charm is literally in their backyard.
Beacons of the arts, culture and philanthropy, the Fords collected original paintings by Matisse, Cezanne and more. A work of art in their own right, the breathtaking grounds were designed by famed landscape architect Jens Jensen. The meadow, rockwork and water components appear to be almost completely natural but were meticulously planned.
Roaming the scenic grounds and architectural home, the two of you will capture the excitement of your engagement at a location steeped in Detroit’s rich and formative history. Edsel and Eleanor Ford placed love above all, raising their four children in this very house. Perhaps it will bring you good luck as you look ahead to life as a married couple.
