Why Video is a Must if You’re Doing a First Look

Your wedding day is full of moments that you’ll want to remember forever. But with so much going on, it’s hard to take in everything that’s happening around you. Thankfully, hiring a wedding videographer for your wedding will help you document the day! Videographers are able to capture every laugh, tear and sentiment -- moments that you might miss during the chaos of the day.

As professionals, we recommend video to complete your coverage and ensure that your whole day is captured. As friends, we recommend video to capture your first dance, first look, your father’s speech, or maybe you and your fiance nervously cutting into that big, beautiful cake. Watching your wedding video 10 years from now will be a completely different experience than browsing your photo album. It'll put you right back in the moment.

Admittedly, first looks might be our favorite to capture on video. First looks are the peak of the day’s excitement and perhaps the most emotional and intimate of the day's events. The suspense of seeing each other, the joy and relief that immediately follows... it’s such a touching moment for couples and something that deserves to be replayed for years and years! While first looks are just as special in photos, there's nothing quite like being able to feel (and see!) the emotion of the moment play out for years to come.

To demonstrate how compelling wedding videography can be for big day moments, we’ve put together our top first look video clips. Catch them below!

Lauren & Jake

Lauren & Jake had a beautiful May wedding at Giracci Vineyards & Farms. Their first look was so emotional! We can’t help but tear up a little, too.

Kira & Juan

Kira & Juan had the first look at the University of Michigan Museum of Art. The moment they first saw each other was incredibly sweet, simple, and genuine. We love this first look from Kira & Juan’s day.

Helena & Chandler

Chandler’s reaction is one every bride would hope for, we think! Chandler’s joy seeing his bride is infectious and so sweet. Incredibly iconic, Helena & Chandler had their first look in front of Philadelphia City Hall.

Darlena & Phillip

Pretty as a postcard, Darlena & Philip choose the sandy beaches of Postcard Inn Beach Resort & Marina at Holiday Isle to film their first look. We love that Phillip’s anticipation and reaction will be remembered forever. Such a happy moment!

Bailey & Kevin

Bailey’s nervous excitement for the reveal has us right there with her! Her quick twirl in her wedding dress has us remembering another reason why we love video! The couple had their first look at Regions Tower at Oasis Events.

Of course, your fiance isn’t the only one that can partake in a first look! Many brides are opting for first looks with their fathers, mothers and bridesmaids. The moment is equally priceless and sentimental no matter who you choose to include!

So, have you thought any more about video for the big day? If you need a second opinion, see what other brides have said on the topic. And, be sure to check out our video portfolio page for more highlight reels and video snippets.

We promise you won’t regret being able to relive the special moments of your day!
