The Magical Winter Wedding of Rachel and Daniel In Seattle

"O, wind, if winter comes, can spring be far behind?" - Percy Bysshe Shelley

There is something magical about the long spells of wintertime that makes everything around us hauntingly gorgeous. As the days get shorter and colder, and the sun rays become invitingly warm and cozy, we are engulfed with a sense of wonder. The beauty of wintertime can restore your faith in the way our natural world works. After the cold spells of winter end, we are promised the beauty of the spring season, which can be the greatest metaphor of life itself. From taking you back to the days of hope and wishes of waking up to snow, to making a snow angel in a furry blanket of freshly fallen powder, the season of winter is best enjoyed while sipping a cup of hot chocolate in front of the fireplace with the ones you love.

This is the time when romantic couples bring out their creative juices to fuel up their dreamy winter weddings with breathtaking seasonal details. From the striking winter wedding details that speak for the dark and moody season to the deep romantic wedding hues that reverberate with the cold spell, we love winter weddings for so many reasons. Imagine holiday jingles playing in the background as you are planning your stylish winter-inspired bridal look or cuddling with your partner watching a spooky Tim Burton flick when you suddenly go “Yes, I would love a festive winter wedding with greenery details instead of flowers,” everything about a winter nuptial is dreamy and whimsical in the truest sense.

We understand the hype around stunning summer and spring wedding details and why so many couples around the globe prefer to get married in the warm and sunning season. But, whimsical weddings in wintertime have a lot going on for them too, which makes them unique and delightful. From the rustic chic details of the unique winter wedding color palettes to the wedding planning sessions by the fireplace with hot mugs of cocoa and warm blankets, there is something truly blissful about planning a winter wedding that can add warmth and charm to even the frostiest of days. The merry winter holiday season is bound to inspire you to design your winter nuptials with a dash of warm glow and whimsical details that can warm up hearts. The stunning wedding photos of snowy receptions and the warm holiday details acting as backdrops can make you see why being a winter bride is the best thing ever. Apart from giving you so many perks, winter weddings are also loved by guests because they can wear their favorite formal outfits without being uncomfortable and sweating outside in soaring temps.

Talking about our favorite winter wedding aesthetics, we cannot forget the stunning bridal hairstyles inspired by real winter weddings. From brides wearing dreamy flower crowns made out of dried lavender sprigs to carefully coiffed wedding hairstyles as a nod to old Hollywood style, chic winter bridal styles always make us dream. This is the time friends and family come together to celebrate and rejoice under one roof, which instantly acts as a mood lifter. Winter wedding couples love to bring out their creativity and artistry to play while planning their chic winter wedding. Brides love adding stunning accessories and add-ons to their bridal styles like faux fur coats and dazzling jewelry in contrast to the chic white overalls. The elegant winter wedding tones ranging from moody emeralds, plums to warm cream and berry tones, or dazzling silver and gold can elevate the spirits of a magical wintertime soirée. From bridesmaids draped in long sleeves or faux fur wraps to groomsmen looking dapper in sweater vests, scarves, and heavy wool jackets, dressing up your wedding party for a winter wedding can also be a fun experience.

Keeping your guests warm and cozy with comfort food and a homely atmosphere can also be a great idea for winter weddings. Setting up a DIY hot chocolate bar at your reception or planning a wedding menu around old-fashioned comfort food like steaming bowls of soup and mashed potatoes can be a great start. Similarly, you can opt for non-traditional wedding cake ideas featuring rich flavors like dark chocolate, caramel, and red velvet, or even something unique like peppermint and white chocolate. Winter-inspired thank you gifts for your wedding party can set the tone for the warm event like DIY hot cocoa cones, candy canes, or mulling spices. Unique cocktail reception ideas for winter celebrations can have mulled wine, peppermint cocktails, or hot-buttered rum to warm up your guests.

If you’ve been planning for an eco-friendly wedding with a reduced carbon footprint, then winter is the time for you to tie the knot. As the seasonal winter flowers are fewer in options, you are naturally inclined to go for more greens or wedding flower alternatives from the local farmers’ market or florists. Since wedding flowers and natural decorations have a huge role to play in increased carbon footprints related to weddings, opting for alternatives or rentals will be the ultimate eco-friendly wedding planning session. Choosing a wedding venue featuring picturesque shabby-chic aesthetics can also be a great start for your winter celebrations. The enchanting backdrops with a picture-perfect snowy landscape can be great for your wedding photography session. Gorgeous bridal styles featuring long white wedding dresses with illusion sleeves and high-collared lace necklines along with a vampy red or deep plum lipstick steal our hopelessly romantic hearts every time. Dashing groom styles featuring woolen tweed blazers with velvet pants and patterned mufflers make us go weak in our knees too! If we have to describe what we love about winter weddings, it would be - “Everything!”

On a hazy winter morning of January 2020, we got the memorable opportunity to document a couple in Seattle that had set blazing fires to our romantic souls. Like a warm glow of winter sun, Rachel and Daniel tugged our heartstrings and played a love song by the vintage fireplace. This wedding day in Seattle was set in a winter wonderland, and their gorgeous wedding photography session in Seattle testified to the warm adventure of our professional and affordable wedding photographers. From the dramatic overcast skies to the scintillating winter aesthetics that popped during this Seattle wedding photography session, we fell head over heels in love with each and every detail of this winter wedding day in Seattle.

Right from the beginning, Rachel had her heart set on getting married in Seattle. We too loved this decision of hers, as this is one of our favorite cities to capture lovestruck duos against all the elegant backdrops that it has to offer. The largest city in Washington, Seattle is steeped in history, heritage, and an eclectic mix of cultures and arts. The romantic engagement spots in Seattle are loved by our professional couple photographers as they are dabbled in easy-going lifestyles and rich cultures. Planning a day around this beautiful city can give you a pocketful of memories and some stunning couple portraits for your engagement album. Starting with the iconic Space Needle and the surrounding entertainment complex with theaters, sports facilities, and restaurants, your engagement photography session in Seattle can have a funfair theme. Another quirky photo spot in Seattle, the popular Chihuly Garden and Glass, is home to several exhibits and collections by an innovative glassblower named Dale Chihuly.

Seattle's Museum of Flight is a delight to aviation enthusiasts, as this flight museum gives onlookers the thrill of seeing many of the planes suspended in flight. Another such unique photo spot in Seattle is the Olympic Sculpture Park, which is an open-air museum that is home to a wide range of remarkable sculpture collections. The waterfront spot of the Museum of History & Industry is steeped in the region's rich history from Native American cultures and is a perfect location for a golden hour photography session in Seattle.

Rachel and Daniel opted for a beautiful church wedding at the Bellevue Christian Reformed Church in Bellevue, Seattle. Church weddings can be a beautiful experience, as with every wedding, as a love story gets attached to the already existing rich history. Apart from the gorgeous rustic decor that gleams with history, a chic church wedding can also be an exquisite experience for an elegant wedding photography experience with alluring backdrops. After their wedding ceremony, the couple chose the exclusive Red Lion Hotel wedding venue in Bellevue for hosting their wedding reception. This classic wedding venue in Seattle boasts small-town charm and hospitality in a big city setting.

Featuring wedding event spaces for weddings of all sizes and styles, the chic Red Lion Hotel in Bellevue spans 6,750 square feet of indoor ballroom settings with large picture windows and 12-foot ceilings. One of the most sought-after wedding venues in Seattle, this gorgeous venue is home to immaculately landscaped gardens, gorgeous backdrops for our Seattle wedding photographers, and is marked by unparalleled services. The unmatched hospitality for all the out-of-town guests also makes it a great wedding venue choice in Seattle.

The gorgeous winter wedding day at the premier Red Lion Hotel venue began with a slight overcast, which added to the deep and sultry mood of the season. The blushing winter bride Rachel stole our hearts as she donned a crisp white wedding dress featuring intricate embroidery and illusion details that were carefully woven throughout the dress. The fit and flare full-sleeved train wedding dress featured floral embroidery work and a plunging V-neckline. She tucked her hair with a cathedral-length bridal veil and wore minimal jewelry. The luscious deep auburn curls were neatly side-parted and adorned with a whimsical floral headpiece. Her minimal makeup and deep Fuschia-toned lips made her a gorgeous winter bride.

Our dashing groom with geek-chic aesthetics played a fair game in acing his debonair look. Daniel wore two-piece formal suits with a crisp white shirt, along with a deep maroon tie and a red rose boutonniere. The gang of bridesmaids wore long deep maroon lace dresses, and the orchestrated deep-colored winter-inspired bridesmaids’ dresses made our jaws drop! The winter wedding bouquets featured a mix of blushed and bucolic flowers and greens. The gang of groomsmen choreographed a synchronized look by wearing dark gray two-piece formal suits with similar accessories as that of Daniel.

The wedding party of this winter affair looked picture-ready, and our hearts swooned with their vivid display of deep winter tones. The couple had their first look as Daniel waited patiently for his gorgeous bride, oriented in the opposite direction. Rachel coyly hugged him from behind and they both saw each other in their wedding attire for the first time! The beautifully planned first look was captured in precious wedding portraits that will be cherished for generations to come. The bucolic-themed wedding color tones came into play as the newly married couple twirled through the luscious grounds of the enchanting Seattle wedding reception venue. They stepped into the surrounding woodsy spot for a romantic couple portrait session in Seattle.

The dark green forest backdrops of the wedding site added a whimsical vibe to the romantic wedding portraits of this duo. Surrounded by dark green hues and rustic tree branches, this winter wedding photography in Seattle gave us some truly inspiring memories to take back home. Flanked by red and yellow flowers, the couple photos clicked while the lovebirds were sitting on a rustic bench gave us romantic flashbacks! They even went to the nearby grounds that featured rolling carpets of grass and had us click romantic snaps as they embraced each other.

Their wedding party regrouped, and together they posed for some elegant wedding group portraits with quaint country backgrounds. Rachel managed to pose for some stunning bridal portraits by a piano. Those bridal portraits still continue to be our favorite! She wrapped a faux fur shawl as the day came to an end and the temps began to drop. So stunning! This day set in a magical winter wonderland will stay with us for the magical experience we had. From the iconic deep winter color palettes to the choice of winter-inspired bridal accessories, every big and little detail will be forever cherished by us!
