Props, Pops & Poses: Elizabeth's Engagement Session Inspiration!

Signs, balloons, mason jars — props sure do hold a special place in our hearts! But sometimes, it can be refreshing to see an engagement session that takes the minimalist approach — when the stunning photo location is a prop on its own, and all you can do is keep your eyes on the couple! If you prefer the minimalist look for your own e-session, then you're going to adore this week's installment of our Props, Pops & Poses series! We sat down with Elizabeth, George Street's incredibly talented Marketing Photo Specialist, to get the scoop on what inspires her ideal engagement session!

1. Dreamy and romantic, or vibrant and colorful? Spill the details on what "look and feel" you envision for your ideal engagement session!

Both! I definitely want my photos to have a dreamy and romantic air about them, but I also want them to pack a punch!

2. Location, location, location!! If you could pick any spot to shoot your e-session, where would it be?!

I attended college for four years in Arizona, a place which has grown to be very special to me. I could definitely see myself planning a trip out there to meet up with a photographer for a warm, sun-filled engagement session! I know we'd get some stunning shots — and let's face it, I wouldn't complain about taking a little pre-wedding vacation to spend some quality time with my fiancé!

3. A little bit of color can go a long way! What stunning shades best characterize your engagement style?

I've always dreamed of using burgundy as the primary color in my wedding and would absolutely love to incorporate it into my engagement session, as well. It's much subtler than, say, fire engine red, but still vibrant enough to add a nice little pop of color!

4. Sweet signs, a picnic for two...there's no doubt props can add an extra dose of pizzazz to any engagement session! What props — if any — would you include in your session?

I absolutely ADORE the props that I've seen so many of our couples incorporate into their sessions! However, when it comes to my own engagement session, we won't be bringing anything but our love and adoration for one another! In my opinion, the environment around us will be as good a prop as any. When we're on location with our photographer, I want us to pay attention to our surroundings and consider how we can integrate them into our photos. Things like textured walls or everyday architecture may seem ordinary upon arrival, but once the photos are snapped, we'll always remember them as the spots where we chose to document our love and celebrate the new adventure we're about to take together.

5. Engagement photos are all about capturing that newly engaged glow! During your dream e-session, would you plan to strike a pose or simply live in the moment?

The more natural, the better! While I do want the occasional posed shot (it's always nice to have updated portraits around!), I want most of our session time to be spent documenting our personalities and emotional connection as a couple!
