Happy Monday! For this week's Props, Pops & Poses post, Amanda's decided to shake things up! Instead of following suit with the last five installments, she's basking in the bridal portrait trend and I can't blame her!
Let's be honest, we've all dreamed of getting glam for the camera -- I'll be the first to admit I have! -- and there couldn't be a better time to seize the moment than in the midst of planning for your big day. Adorable, romantic and oh-so-sweet, it's no surprise that our amazing marketing associate, Amanda, curated this collection to inspire her very own bridal portrait session! Scroll down to learn all about Amanda. Xo, Courtney
1. Dreamy and romantic, or vibrant and colorful? Spill the details on what "look and feel" you envision for your ideal portrait session!
I'm very much in love with all things feminine and romantic, especially when it comes to bridal portraits! The look and feel of my session would embody those qualities — think soft, natural light — with a dash of elegance and glamour!
2. Location, location, location!! If you could pick any spot to shoot your session, where would it be?!
I've lived in the Midwest my entire life, but there's just something about the South that captures my heart! Charleston and Savannah are just two of my favorite vacation spots, so I'd love to pack my bags and head down to either one for my session! I also love timeless, colonial architecture, so I'd definitely take my photographer to an old Southern estate with huge white columns and a big, wrap-around porch!
3. A little bit of color can go a long way! What stunning shades best characterize your portrait session style?
As I mentioned above, I'm a hopeless romantic at heart! Therefore, my ideal portrait session would be filled with lots of blush pink, peach and cream — with a dash of gold, for good measure!
4. Sweet signs, a picnic for two...there's no doubt props can add an extra dose of pizzazz to any portrait session! What props — if any — would you include in your session?
Disclaimer: I. Love. Props! I think they add so much depth to a session, from bridal portraits all the way to engagement photos! I think it's also interesting when brides choose props that push the boundaries and offer some sort of juxtaposition — for instance, a beautiful bride standing in front of a rustic barn door, or swapping stilettos for cowgirl boots. I think I'd like to test that out in my own bridal session. Whether it's a bright bouquet positioned against a white lace gown, or a snapshot with my adorable pup, Lucy, the possibilities are endless when it comes to props!
5. Engagement photos are all about capturing that newly engaged glow! During your dream portrait session, would you plan to strike a pose or simply live in the moment?
To me, the most beautiful bridal portraits are those captured when the bride completely forgets she's in front of a camera lens — it's those moments of laughter, joy and bliss that truly send my heart aflutter! For my bridal session, I'd want each image to reflect that "look of love" and the genuine happiness I'm feeling in that moment in time!
