In all honestly, nothing makes me happier than being in the presence of a couple who is truly and madly in love!

This is why photographing & chatting with married couples here at George Street have become some of my favorite things to blog about. That being said, I’m very excited to introduce everyone to our newest married couple, Kimmy & Patrick! These two love birds got married only a short while ago (at one of the most beautiful winter weddings I've ever seen!) and already have wonderful advice to share with the world. As soon as you read their love story, I think you’ll fall head over heels for them just as quickly as I did. So what are you waiting for!? 1. How did the two of you meet? Tell us your love story!

Kimmy: We met at a wedding of all places! Pat went to college with my cousin, Bob, and we met on the dance floor at Bob’s wedding!

We got engaged about a year and a half later while on vacation with my family in the North Woods of Wisconsin. Pat is the worst secret keeper ever so I knew something was up! He took me to a really nice dinner, we went for a drive around the lake, and then for a quick walk at a nearby resort with a really nice waterfront to watch the sunset. He got down on one knee as we walked along the pier. Then when we got back to our resort, my whole family was waiting with a surprise engagement party!  It was so perfect!

2. What was your most memorable moment from your wedding day? Any highlights or favorite memories?

Kimmy: Right before our ceremony started, Pat and I went out to a balcony that overlooked where our guests were seated. They couldn’t see us, but we could see them! We watched for a while and danced to the songs we had picked for our DJ to play while people were being seated! Toward the end of the night, Pat and two of his friends changed into dancing Jerry Bear costumes, like the Grateful Dead band logo. Our dj played a Phish song and it was just hilarious!

Pat: Our videographer asked us to do a goodbye shot and had us stand on the balcony overlooking our venue. We were pretending to wave goodbye when The White Stripes’ “Seven Nation Army” came on and we just started rocking out in the balcony! It was so fun and we have a great photo of us jammin’ from above as everyone in the crowd below is dancing!

3. How did you know that he/she was the one?

Pat: There’s not one thing that made me know Kimmy was the one. It was lots of different things; her kindness and how she made me feel.

Kimmy: Same for me. He would just do something to make me laugh or send me something, an article or song he thought I’d like, and loving him kind of became like a reflex.

4. What’s the secret to your marriage? Are there any specific things you live by?

Kimmy: Oh wow, secret?! We’ve been married for less than 2 months! I think we both have no clue what we’re doing, but we’re glad we’ve got each other while we try to figure it out. We really look up to our parents and family, they’ve set such great examples for us!

Patrick: Yeah, that, and communication.

5. What is your best marriage advice for other couples?

Kimmy: It’s my goal to make our happiness as husband and wife my priority.

Pat: Find a good balance of challenging one another while still taking care of one another.
