A picture is worth a thousand words they say, and we think the love and romance captured during Katie and Austin’s day said it all. Picture-perfect was Katie and Austin’s wedding at the Barr Mansion in Austin, TX. The Barr Mansion sits on grounds where cotton was once cultivated and was most significantly the home of William Braxton Barr, creator of the town the venue resides in. Its rich history and southern charm was the perfect setting for their day.
Historical significance aside, the rustic outdoor elegance created by Katie and Austin made the day. The details combined with the venue had us loving the wedding day look. We especially adored the detail photos of Katie’s bridal dress hanging over the door amongst the crawling ivy.
As Katie’s bridesmaids and mother helped her get ready for the big day, we also couldn’t help but notice their beautiful mixed dress styles. Shades of nude, cream and light pink accentuated Katie’s stunning gown. The embellished illusion back and the delicate straps made it truly attention-grabbing. Katie’s bridal prep photos finished with Betsy Johnson bridal shoes featuring a pale blue sole. Her bridal look gave "something blue" a trendy twist.
On the other hand, Austin and his groomsmen rocked gold bow ties with blue suits, which matched the gold details of the bridesmaids dresses. To honor and celebrate one of the most important guys in her life, Katie had the sweetest note embroidered on the back of her father’s tie.
The whimsical, overgrown gardens set the scene for Katie and Austin’s first couple photos, where delicate yellow flowers and creeping ivy within the lush greenery made everything simply incredible. An elegant southern-style balcony framed the group photos.
The pair then exchanged vows outside under a shady tree with their closest friends and family nearby. Following the ceremony, the simple but elegantly decorated reception in the ballroom brought a mix of old and new. A bright and open event space full of small, personal details greeted the couple and their guests. Details like a guest signature book, decorative marriage milestone, gorgeous caked topped with "Mr & Mrs. Jones" and small floral table centerpieces made the reception perfectly sophisticated yet rustic and inviting. And the star of the show? The iconic dip as Austin kissed Katie during their first dance.
The night ended with a few of our favorite wedding traditions, a grand sparkler send off and some wonderful night portraits.
